Memento FIRE

Financial independence for people who want more life, not just more net worth.

Why We’re Becoming Memento FIRE

This site is becoming Memento FIRE.

The old name was meant figuratively: not harm, not despair, not shock for shock’s sake. It was a blunt way of saying that financial independence should help you stop postponing life until some distant, safer, socially approved date.

Why the name is changing

The web does not always read metaphor generously. Search engines, ad systems, social platforms, email filters, and normal human readers see sensitive words before they see context. That friction can slow discovery, complicate monetization, and make the work harder to share.

Memento FIRE keeps the original spine without forcing readers or platforms through the wrong doorway. It points to the same question: if time is finite, what should money actually buy?

What stays the same

The editorial line is not changing. This will still be a FIRE site about enough, agency, mortality, healthspan, work, identity, relationships, taxes, healthcare, and the strange emotional math of leaving the default path.

The goal is still financial independence in service of a more lived life, not a higher score in a brokerage account.

What changes

The public name, metadata, and ongoing language will shift to Memento FIRE. Future articles will use cleaner wording so the site can travel better through search, social, and advertising systems. The old phrase will remain only as historical context where it helps explain the origin of the idea.

Same philosophy. Better signal. Less avoidable friction.

If FIRE is supposed to buy anything, it should buy attention: to the people you love, the body you live in, the days you do not get back, and the work you would still choose if fear were quieter.
